The Louisville Nightmare have concluded try-outs for the 2009 season, but are still currently recruiting players.

The Louisville Nightmares is a first year team in the Independent Women's Football League, (IWFL), though many of the current players and coaches have participated in women’s tackle football for over 3 years. The IWFL is a full tackle women's football league founded in 2000 by a group of women dedicated to making the sport a household name. The IWFL consists of 41 teams and 1600 players, who travel across North America.

Team practices begin in January with games starting in mid-April and go through June. Regular season includes 4 home games played here in Louisville (stadium not announced yet) and 4 away games. The 2009 schedule has not been set, but could include teams from Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio and more.

It's the real deal! Full tackle, eleven vs. eleven with a combination of college and NFL rules. Past teams had players ranging in age from 18 to 46 and of various experience levels from rookies, who had never played football before, to 9 year veterans.

Want to be a part of the action? The Nightmare is looking for new players and volunteers for the 2009 season. No football experience is necessary. Tryouts are open to all women, 18 years of age and older. Participants must show proof of age and health insurance.
